For 25 years now, we have been the guardians of a place rich in history and mystery: the château de Goudourville. Over the years, we've carried out a great deal of research, combining ancient archives, archaeological discoveries and passionate investigations, sometimes with the suspense of a true detective story! Every stone, every corner of the castle whispers a fragment of the past.
Today, we are delighted to share some of these discoveries on the Château de Goudourville Wikipedia page:
This summary, the fruit of two decades of research, is but a half-open door to a history still largely to be discovered. The origins of the castle, then called Gothorumvilla, Godorvile, or Godor in villa, are lost in time, between the XIᵉ and XIIIᵉ centuries. The castle's proven existence in 1276 is just one landmark in a much broader, and still mysterious, chronology.
Castles... This word alone evokes an epic. It awakens an enchanted imagination in all of us: impregnable fortresses, splendid keeps, valiant knights, devious traitors, dark dungeons, magnificent chatelaines, glittering balls, and why not, a few buried treasures... A vision undoubtedly romanticized, but so deeply rooted in our childhood dreams.
Château de Goudourville is no exception. Behind its walls, history still whispers. And if some answers still elude us, we passionately pursue the quest for these forgotten fragments.
