Our environmental commitment

1ere photo page environnement.JPG

At the Château de Goudourville, ecology is not a trend - it's a historical reality.

It’s the very essence of this kind of place, built with natural materials: stone, wood, lime...

Reducing environmental impact is simply a return to common sense and sustainable habits.

A proactive approach with concrete actions is in place, adapted to the building’s specific features.

Energy :

Conscious Simplicity

  • Gradual transition to 100% LED lighting

  • Motion sensors to activate lights only when needed

  • Light indicators on switches to encourage turning off lights

  • One large TV in the lounge-bar to reduce unnecessary devices

  • Outdoor floodlights replaced with low-energy models

Shared habit :

turn off the lights when leaving a room.

Water :

Every Drop Counts

  • Low-flow showers and toilets

  • Liquid soap dispensers to reduce waste

Shared habit :

don’t let water run unnecessarily

Heating :

Controlled Warmth

  • Heating activated by zones based on occupancy

  • Outdoor sensors to adjust heating to the weather

  • Firewood sourced from the estate for the fireplace

  • Thermostatic valves on radiators

Shared habit :

it’s better to lower a radiator

than crack open a window.

Paper & Digital :

Less, But Better

  • Paperless contracts, signed electronically

  • Reduced paper use with digital communication via website, social media, and email

  • Recycling of paper and cardboard

Waste :

Better Sorting,

Better Recycling

  • Clear signage for waste sorting

  • Compost bin available for organic waste

  • Elimination of single-use dishware

Gardens & Biodiversity

  • 4 hectares converted into a flowering, bee-friendly meadow

  • Planting of low-water-demand vegetation

  • Optimized watering (drip irrigation systems coming soon)

Social & local

Commitments

  • Partnership with a workshop employing people with disabilities for linen care

  • Priority given to local, French, and short-supply-chain purchases

  • Local producers featured in our recommended address book

  • Awareness raised among event facilitators on sustainability and CSR practices

Together, in the Same Spirit

We invite our guests - who become, for a time, the attentive guardians of the château - to adopt simple gestures.

On arrival, a clear, accessible charter, along with practical eco-friendly living tips, designed to be easy and mindful rather than restrictive is shared with guests.

And tomorrow?

We continue exploring new paths for improvement. One step at a time.

Every gesture matters in preserving our environment - on this land,

on this little piece of the planet.
