Stunning Stay... The perfect retreat!

I came here to celebrate my 30th birthday with 20 friends and we had a fantastic time. All the rooms are huge with spectacular views from all windows. The pool is massive, more than big enough to get us all in. Everything about the Chateau is breathtaking. If your looking for a break with a big group you should look no further. I could go on and on about the beauty of the Chateau and I suggest you should book and visit yourself!! We will be returning 100%.

Enjoyed by all

We rented the castle for a fortnight in July for our big family: 21 people with our grandchildren. The setting is enchanting, the castle is huge with very nice rooms, the kitchen is almost professional with large refrigerators and a gas stove perfect for our large tables. Very large pool with pool house and large enclosed areas around the castle for lunches in front of a superb panorama. In short we recommend

Simply .... Splendid !!!

We spent four glorious nights at this wonderful chateau and it couldn't have been better. The chateau rooms are simply stunning, not to mention the outside dining spaces and the enormous pool complete with table tennis and a welcome shady seating area. I was put in touch with caterers, musicians and even a costume hire lady who arrived with an amazing array of medieval costumes for us to dress up in for our gala night.. all were fabulous! We had a amazing cooked breakfast every the morning for the 20 guests leaving us free to simply enjoy the Chateau, which we all did. Memories for life in this truly beautifully restored historic gem.... Priceless!!

40th birthday celebration and holiday

I had the pleasure of staying at the amazing castle of Goudourville for a week to celebrate my special birthday with family & friends. The chateau is magnificent and we had the most amazing time there. The rooms are all unique and beautiful and we hosted our guests comfortably. With a combination of romantic suites and family rooms, several dining areas and receptions, a bar and a fab great hall entrance the look and feel of the decor was very much in keeping of a medieval chateau. It is totally unique! All (the kitchen, linen …) was very clean! The pictures do not do the chateau justice and we will certainly be returning next year!

Family birthday party off the beaten track

We spent the weekend of Pentecost in this beautiful authentic and peaceful home Everything went wonderfully well. The guests, most of whom were sensitive to authenticity, were delighted. The owner, very available, allowed us to prepare our weekend smoothly. All the facilities are as described and well maintained. As a housekeeper for a weekend, I particularly loved the kitchen with its so beautiful cobblestones from past time and its dining room. I enjoyed very much the beautiful view from guest rooms. I am still amazed!

A stunning place for my 50th

Perfect setting for my 50th! This chateau is beautiful. The location is stunning and it has a very warm atmosphere. I would definitely recommend to anyone and would definitely return.

Château of Goudourville

Obviously, the venue is exceptional. A castle straight out of the Middle Ages that can be seen for miles around as it majestically overlooks its quercynois spur terraces of the Garonne. Of course, the rooms are crazy of class and colors, it is good in the high-end ... You will become the Lord of the Castle the time of your stay for your holidays, family or friend parties, receptions or weddings! According to your tastes, it is possible to organize all kinds of entertainment: medieval festoyances with costumes, magic evenings, music groups, shows, banquets, vintage, top class or historical wedding... Not to mention the great and beautiful private pool for those who just dream to be idle!

A fabulous place for our wedding

We got married on March 17, 2018 and it was just magical! Geneviève is a very attentive person, who adapts to the needs of the newlyweds. A perfect place for the medieval wedding we dreamed of!

SILVIA N., April 2018

Magic to celebrate the new year

We ended up with friends and family in a beautiful, unexpected, unforgettable, unique, surprising venue. Warm and simple welcome. The castle was well heated, which was great! If you have ever dreamt of becoming a lord of a castle, this is THE place!

Magical stay in a magnificent castle

A very well maintained and heated venue. Everything needed in the kitchen is available. A personalized welcome with moving attentions. We spent New Year eve in family and loved our stay outside of time. We recommend the Castle to all history and architecture enthusiasts as well as to those who dream of being a feudal Lord ... A unique and unforgettable moment!

40th Wedding anniversary!

We celebrated in August 2017 our 40-year marriage over 4 days by privatizing this castle. We housed our family and welcomed all our 60 guests in a medieval atmosphere including ancient music and medieval costumes. An unforgettable moment, transcended by this magnificent venue along with the constant and attentive help from the owner and her team. Highly recommended !

Anouk & Bernard – August 2017

A dream week with our family

The venue is exceptional: calm and tranquility guaranteed. Even if I often attend this kind of places of exception, what surprised me the most, given the surface at our disposal, is the cleanliness. Everything was perfect and tastefully decorated. My children and grandchildren have particularly appreciated.

Hervé C. and its family - July 2017

A unique wedding

Beautiful castle, sumptuous rooms, all on site to organize a dream wedding. The plus of the castle: accommodation at the castle and multiple places for the ceremony, the wine of honor, the dinner, the wedding party in order to manage the wedding day.

Severine & Alex, Wedding July 14th, 2017

This is simply a dream!

I had the honour of visiting the Chateau de Goudourville for an entire week. We were a group of photographers, who wanted a special location to shoot with 5 models that we brought with us from the UK. We booked the entire Chateau for the week. I had high expectations before I arrived, but nothing prepared me for the real experience! Firstly, the Chateau and its grounds are vast, private and very well maintained. My wife and I slept in a bedroom right at the top of the stairs, it was undoubtedly the biggest room I have ever slept in. The ceilings are mile high, the decor perfect, the floors beautiful, and the views magnificent. Every room is different, all beautifully decorated in different colours. To be truthful, if we had stayed for a month we would still be finding places to take photographs. There are also numerous reception room, all large, all beautiful. The swimming pool is large, spotlessly clean, and has the sunshine for the entire day.

Alan E, July 2nd 2017

Incredibly friendly beautiful location

This chateau is incredibly beautiful with very stylish furnishings suiting the period. It has a lovely warm atmosphere helped by the warmth and friendliness of Patrick, the caretaker and cook. Though he kept a discreet distance he was ever available nearby and his cooking is really superb! Genevieve the owner is also full of charm - highly recommended place and people for an unforgettable experience!

A unique Family party

We just gathered the family for a party during 4 days at the castle… the ages went from 18 months to 85 years. We were all delighted with the accommodation, the children loved it so much! The swimming pool saw many amateurs! And this beautiful life of castle is only one and a half hour away from Bordeaux!

Micheline A., May 2017

A magical Castle

In your Castle, we found exactly what we were looking for. My wife is satisfied. My children still talk about it. Your castle is beautiful and what is magical is that everything has not been discovered yet : it still keeps its secrets, beautiful secrets ... Your passion for this venue make us admiring your commitment. Your sympathy, trust and friendship honor you.

Briffa Family, WE 5-7 May 2017

Perfect

The castle of Goudourville was our resting place for our group of 10 people during a week wih the new year’s eve. Furnished with style and in keeping with the medieval history of the castle, it has filled all our wishes. The guestrooms are gorgeous and very well equipped. We keep a unique memory of our stay and already talked about coming again! We highly recommend the castle of Goudourville for those who want to experience a completely unique moment out of time ...

A wonderful birthday

For the 40-year anniversary of my husband, I invited 26 friends. We organized games, a themed birthday party. The Chateau is magnificent with a wonderful welcome. It was such an unexpected surprise for my husband ! A venue highly recommended!

We loved it!

The castle of Goudourville is wonderful, beautifully decorated and its history told by the masters of the venue in a superb way. The setting and the view are splendid; the occupants of the castle are very available and welcoming; I recommend the Chateau of Goudourville to any lover of history and sight-seeing.

Philippe A. – Holiday Stay Septembre 2016

Absolutely royal

A parenthesis in time, in every way. The owners gave us an extremely warm welcome to their Middle Ages castle, where many of the rooms have been renovated and are maintained with care and taste down to the smallest detail. One could easily feel like a medieval lord, walking through all the communal rooms and surrounds. (…) We enjoyed a varied and very generous breakfast with a goblet of fresh strawberries, homemade jams, French pastries, ham, cereals, etc. in a magnificent room with high vaulted ceiling and classical music playing in the background.
The hosts are passionate and take every care to ensure you have an enchanting stay.

Family holiday

Such a wonderful week-end

What a wonderful family week-end we just spent in this extraordinary venue that is the Chateau de Goudourville. Aesthetically, it is a splendor wonderfully restored by passionate and very welcoming owners, eager to share with you the love and the interest that they carry to their property. The reception halls, the guestrooms, a superb swimming pool, outdoor games, not to mention the possibility to discover the best places of this area, all contributed to delight us and we were able, within a week-end to go back in time with happiness

Family week-end, September 2016

A moment of eternity

I never imagined that one day I would spend a week in a castle such as this. I have been given a moment of eternity, uniting sublime past and marvellous comfort. Thank you for all these unforgettable moments keep making of this magical place a body which has a soul.

Everything one can wish

The chateau itself is everything one can wish. It has beautifully decorated rooms, amazing terrace for BBQs and a huge swimming pool to refresh ourselves. It is near local supermarkets and a really nice village too.

Kamila & Tobias, August 2016

Like a fairy tale

The week we spent in the chateau was just magical, it was like living in a fairy tale, the place is so picturesque and beautiful. Kamila and Tobias wedding was the most amazing wedding ever! I feel so lucky to have been given the chance to participate and be there with them.

Kamila & Tobias wedding, August 2016

A spectacular backdrop for our wedding

Goudourville is everything we were hoping to find when looking for a venue in the south of France. Scenic and remote, but with ample hotel room in the nearby town of Moissac the château gave us a spectacular backdrop for our ceremony. How often can you stay in a place that has been continuously occupied since the 11th century? A great find!

Anna & James wedding - June 2016

A magical atmosphere

We would like to thank you for your fantastic work and your valuable help in making our marriage the most beautiful day of our lives. In this magnificent castle, the bride and groom seem almost immortal, the luminosity creating a magical atmosphere. The castle is large but our photographer was able to capture all the elegance and charm of an intimate ceremony. Our French and English guests have greatly appreciated the historic character of the building and keep an unforgettable memory of their night at the castle!

Sophie & Philip wedding - April 2016

A unique and magical stay

Words cannot describe such a stay! The setting is incredible, the castle magical, the hosts warm and welcoming!
We were treated to a gargantuan breakfast of all fresh produce.
The best thing: securing the keys to the castle for the entire duration of our stay!!! This was a delicious pause in time: having this magnificent place all to ourselves…

Couple's weekend away

Superb stay

We were very warmly welcomed by the managers, who are passionate about this castle and who also managed to make us love the region and discover some medieval history.
The guestrooms were very beautiful and clean: it was truly a step back in time, to another era, far from the frenzy of the 21st century…
We took gorgeous photos in every corner of the castle (…). We all got dressed up in costume and the children loved played “knights” in this exceptional place, in amongst enormous fireplaces, stone lions, suits of armour and real swords. We went walking around the district and this too was relaxing and otherworldly. A little further on, by car, we discovered a region very rich in history and delightful little villages. WE RECOMMEND THIS CASTLE TO YOU FOR A MEMORABLE MEDIEVAL HOLIDAY.

Family holiday

Transported to the Middles Ages: magical!

One feels as if in a waking dream in this real medieval castle. It is beautiful, and you can explore it as you please. You can even find yourself all alone there, at times. It is also very photogenic: a delight. Our hosts were beyond welcoming. We were able to get warmed up in the medieval kitchen, chatting over a cup of tea with them (there was a gale blowing outside). The sun returned the next day and everything was bathed in light.
It’s quite exceptional to have the keys to one’s “own” castle and to not have to go home after the tour. No, then, after the tour, you get to go back to your room and read or simply daydream by the immense windows, now and then gazing over the fields stretching as far as the eye can reach.
We had an exception stay! We still have the photos, but we know we can go back there whenever we wish…

Couple's getaway

Guaranteed trip through time

This will remain an incredible memory for us! We had the reception in the gardens, as well as the meal the following day, and everyone raved about the magnificent views commanding the surrounding countryside. And the sweeping fields of sunflowers down to the little church at the foot of the hill, what better décor could I ask for our wedding!
The guestrooms are also very spacious, decorated with great taste and are each charming in their own character. Just like the bathrooms, I might add, clean and classy.
And what could be better than relaxing by the large swimming pool, which is also very well situated with a lovely view. (…)

Wedding

A timeless stay

A superb stay in this medieval castle!
The guestrooms are spotless, tastefully decorated and complete with high-quality bedlinen. The hosts are charming and approachable.
Generous breakfast (bread, brioche, pastries, homemade jams, fresh fruit, etc.) To be recommended.

Couple's retreat

Clément V Guestroom

Beautiful castle, magnificent guestroom honouring Clément V and charming hosts. A delicious stay, whatever the weather.

Guaranteed trip through time

This castle combines the charm of a medieval fortress (exposed stonework, towers, machicolated battlements, arms room, etc.) with the comfort and charm of a beautiful light-filled residence overlooking stunning surrounds. Tastefully furnished and decorated, without being ostentatious, this place exudes an intimate atmosphere very far from what you might imagine a fortress to feel like. The welcome we received was excellent, both warm and discreet. Our hosts were very attentive to our wellbeing. There was an excellent breakfast, both varied and generous, in a sumptuous setting. We very much enjoyed having the keys to the castle to ourselves, being able to go wherever we chose whenever we liked. We felt as if we were at home. We were delighted with our stay.
In terms of the room, we were in the Caumont Guestroom, which had a stunning view and was very comfortable.

COUPLE’S HOLIDAY

...

We were welcomed like kings, our visit was impeccable. The Clément V Guestroom is absolutely magnificent. And the breakfast was a real feast!

Petit Futé Guide 2015

Obviously, the site is exceptional. A castle straight out of the Middles Ages, visible for miles around, majestically perched on its Quercy crest watching over the banks of the Garonne. Of course, the guestrooms are deliriously classy and pretty, this is well and truly top of the range… But what we will retain of our stay, above all, will be the personality of the mistress of these stones, a lady full of colour, flamboyant, adorable and simply seething with ideas. Thus we see at the castle events such as themed soirées (medieval fancy-dress feasts and parties), various shows and performances, banquets, balls, horse-drawn carriage rides, and more besides. One also has the option, if they dream big, to go all out and rent the entire castle at a weekly rate.

The six best places to stay in France

The reference guide Sawdays Alastairs has tracked down these top locations offering both modern conveniences and traditional charm.
The Castle of Goudourville, a medieval splendour without the cold draughts but with the hot showers, and a romantic atmosphere to boot. The guestrooms are more than spacious and spectacular with solid wood canopy beds. The Clément V, lavishly decorated in rich reds; the Charles IX, encased in white stone walls and decked out in silky creams. The bathtubs are deep and the bathrooms dripping in fluffy towels.
There is a wooded terrace overlooking the Garonne, a large swimming pool and tonnes of things to see and do. Begin with the castle chapel, built in the 11th century and magnificently preserved.

The Times - December 2003

The Castle of Goudourville: a balcony over the Garonne, an eagle’s-eye view over history

For nearly one thousand years, the promontory of Goudourville has been a strategic post and a coveted site. On the Steps of Quercy and therefore the Kingdom of France, it was the privilege for France’s illustrious families and a target for the English.
To the east of Valence d’Agen, the Castle of Goudourville, glorious fortress, crouched on its towers and folded around its courtyard of honour, is a monument borne of feudal pride. After many trials and tribulations, and now entirely restored, today the castle offers magnificent guestrooms, such as the Clément V and the Charles IX.

Dire Lot l'esprit Quercy - Edition 2010-2011

Castle life

The history of the Castle of Goudourville is rich; rich also, its life today. It is an ideal place for a quality holiday or an exceptional event. In addition to being able to hire function rooms, guestrooms or indeed the entire castle, this private residence goes the extra mile to offer the public a range of activities such as themed soirées in period costume, introduction courses to medieval cuisine or guided historical tours of the castle.
Concerts, art exhibitions, sculptures and photographs, as well as medieval workshops for young and old all decorate the rich cultural life of this site…
